Christ-Centered Music Therapy

Working as a Music Therapist in a secular setting has made me realize the limitations placed on therapy when God is cut out of the equation. I have prayerfully discerned the need to open a private practice which orients healing not just towards the physical, emotional, and psychological, but also towards the spiritual - which is vital to personal health.

Music is beneficial because it taps into the emotions. Everyone has experienced moments where they heard a song that they connected with at a particular moment in their life. Music can elicit many powerful emotions. Sometimes songs evoke memories, feelings of joy, an energy boost, increased mental focus, relaxation, sorrow, sadness, grief, etc. Music Therapy is able to bring up emotions through intentionally chosen music to help you meet your personal goals. It can help you acknowledge past experiences and foster personal growth as you work through them with the guidance of a trained Music Therapist. Picking up an instrument can also be a great way to express intense emotions and channel this energy.

Utilizing the properties of rhythm and playing an intentionally chosen instrument can be rehabilitative for anyone recovering physical function or speech after a traumatic event or brain injury. Significant empirical research/studies suggest that rhythm and melody directly impact centers of the brain responsible for timing of movement, gait, eliciting memories, speech, articulation, executive functioning, and more which makes goal-directed music a very powerful therapy. When met with the spiritual component of every person, it has the capacity for true holistic healing.

Christ-Centered Music Therapy can also help you break free from powerful addictions and habits that may have detrimental consequences on your relationships and your life (such as, anger, difficulty loving your spouse, lust, pornography, etc).

Furthermore, incorporating Praise into sessions through music lifts our whole spirit and redirects our focus to the Divine Healer. It can pull us out  of sadness, anxiety or despair and help us turn our gaze from energy-draining hardships up toward Christ, the One Who is the answer to all our needs. Through praise we become more resilient, whole, and at peace. Therapy that incorporates praise is a powerful tool and is exactly where I seek to go in sessions.

In our therapy sessions, the Lord is invited in and leads the healing process. Your faith will not only be understood, but will be a main component of the process.

Together, we will dive into the deeper meaning of suffering, loss, grief, purpose, identity, true quality of life and/or joy, in a safe and non-intrusive manner. Faith-based therapy is the 'more' you've been looking for to questions that modern psychology just does not have the answers to. Bringing music into the mix further enables obstacles and barriers to be broken.

Christ-Centered Music Therapy is a fun and safe way to enter into mental, spiritual, and physical healing and may be exactly what you are looking for. Set up a free consultation today to find out more!
